708-231-4800"They tried to charge me $4000 for a service of a product that was under warranty, ( they had installed the new AC Bosch unit in late summer 2022) but this company told me it wasn’t under warranty. They claim the unit was broken due to vandalism !, that the vandals were trying to steal copper. I called 2 other companies that disagree with this claim: copper was on the exterior pipes and those were unharmed, the most likely scenario was the technician forgot to put several screws on the outside panel and the weather got to it eventually. One of the other companies I hired got a hold of Bosch and we were able to proceed under the warranty for $1000. That’s a difference of 3K. This company is dishonest, doesn’t take accountability for their actions and doesn’t have an official representation with Bosch as they claim. " A . S from Oak Park, IL on June 19th, 2024

708-231-4800"Are you worried about paying way too much for an HVAC repair?
We called L&H because our furnace stopped working. It's not the first time we called L&H--we've used them before when we had issues with our furnace (our furnace is 27 years old but in excellent shape because we keep it well maintained.)
We received a call back and were told that they couldn't find parts for a furnace that old and we would need to replace the entire furnace for approximately $5500. That was for a single stage Armstrong furnace. It would be more if we wanted to put in a two-stage furnace like the one we currently have.
We called another shop for a second opinion and they came out and found some heater vents that were blocked, pushed a button to reset a circuit breaker on a blower fan (that we bought from L&H about 5 years ago!) and the problem was fixed. Total cost $80.
The second repairman recommended we replace a flame sensor because it was slightly loose, but that wasn't a critical problem. He also said parts are readily available and ordered it for us to replace later. This is one of the parts L & H said was no longer available.
We received a bill for about $200 from L & H. I called and spoke with them about what had transpired hoping they would (obviously!) waive the bill they sent us. They said they would take $50.00 off the bill and could not explain why they wanted to sell us a $5500 furnace instead of just pushing the circuit breaker button on the blower motor they sold us about 5 years ago.
Even more amazing? L&H denied trying to sell us a new furnace. I repeated back the quote they gave us along with the brand name (Armstrong) and they STILL denied ever telling us we needed a new furnace.
So, my experience with L & H was they tried to charge us $5500 while their competition charged $80 for the repair.
Obviously we don't recommend them and have taken them off our preferred vendor list.
Caveat Emptor!

708-231-4800"Had an issue that would cause the furnace to not heat. L&H came to look on a Friday, said would quote by noon Monday. Furnace didn't work all weekend. Monday, no call no quote. I called them they said sorry maybe tomorrow. I stressed the point that it's December and cold, it needs fixed. They begrudgingly quoted, verbally, one component at half the price of a new furnace. Over double the price online! I asked for a paper quote to see why, they said 'no we are flat rate we won't provide a written quote". The operations manager and owner, to this day have never returned a call or email. So ignorant and uncaring. I called GPS in Grant park and they fixed it the next day for hundreds less. Don't trust L&H, not what they used to be." M . L from Peotone, IL on January 12th, 2021

708-231-4800"Customer service is terrible. After they took our money in full for an $8,000 system, we can’t get anyone from there to service it. I called on Wednesday for an appointment on Friday because the unit in our master bedroom hasn’t been working correctly since Sunday. However the unit in our sons room is working just fine. The owner Mike determined that our appointment was unnecessary and cancelled it. His advice was to turn the unit off and wait until Monday. If there was still a problem we should call back then. Thanks for the headache." C . R from Homewood , IL on February 1st, 2019
